Crowdsourcing human common sense for quantum control

چکیده
Citizen science methodologies have over the past decade been applied with great success to help solve highly complex numerical challenges. Here, we take early steps in quantum physics arena by introducing a citizen game, Quantum Moves 2, and compare performance of different optimization methods across three optimal control problems varying difficulty. Inside players can apply gradient-based algorithm (running locally on their device) optimize solutions find that these results perform roughly par best tested standard performed computer cluster. In addition, cluster-optimized player seeds was only method exhibit all This highlights potential for crowdsourcing solution future research problems.

متن کاملCrowdsourcing Word Sense Definition
In this paper, we propose a crowdsourcing methodology for a single-step construction of both an empirically-derived sense inventory and the corresponding sense-annotated corpus. The methodology taps the intuitions of non-expert native speakers to create an expertquality resource, and natively lends itself to supplementing such a resource with additional information about the structure and relia...
متن کاملQuantum mechanics, common sense, and the black hole information paradox.
The purpose of this paper is to analyse, in the light of information theory and with the arsenal of (elementary) quantum mechanics (EPR correlations, copying machines, teleportation, mixing produced in sub-systems owing to a trace operation, etc.) the scenarios available on the market to resolve the so-called black-hole information paradox. We shall conclude that the only plausible ones are tho...
متن کاملCommon Sense
I like your columns, but they’re really all just common sense,” a client told me. He didn’t have a software background, and my columns were his first introduction to systematic ways of understanding software projects. To my chagrin, the net effect of a well-written column appeared to be that he thought software engineering was trivial! The idea that good software engineering “is all just common...
متن کاملCrowdsourcing a Collective Sense of Place.
Place can be generally defined as a location that has been assigned meaning through human experience, and as such it is of multidisciplinary scientific interest. Up to this point place has been studied primarily within the context of social sciences as a theoretical construct. The availability of large amounts of user-generated content, e.g. in the form of social media feeds or Wikipedia contri...
